Randolph Hencken earned his MA in communication and his BS in business administration from San Diego State University, where he founded and served as president of an SSDP chapter. In his last days at SDSU he organized a national media response to an undercover police operation that resulted in the arrest of 75 students just days before the end of the term; SSDP recognized Randy’s efforts with the “Grace Under Fire” award in 2008. Prior to returning to university, from 2001 to 2004, he was the program director at the Ibogaine Association, an alternative drug-treatment center in Mexico. From 2008 to 2011, he was the Director of Communication and Marketing for the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Randy is currently the Executive Director at The Seasteading Institute, a nonprofit working to enable the creation of new nations in international waters where people will be free to experiment with new societies and innovative forms of government.
