Students for Sensible Drug Policy, a grassroots political advocacy organization with a member network of tens of thousands and a full-time national staff of five, is seeking a highly motivated individual to help promote alternatives to the failed War on Drugs. This is a part-time, unpaid internship that may be able to count toward class credit.

SSDP's staff currently consists of five full-time employees; two based in Washington, DC and three based in San Francisco, CA. Interns assist SSDP's staff in day-to-day tasks as well as campaign implementation, event planning, and outreach. Duties of the campaigns and outreach intern may include:

• Policy research and analysis
• Conference planning and promotion
• New media outreach (Facebook, YouTube, blogs, etc)
• Planning local events with live entertainment
• Promoting SSDP at local schools, events, and conferences (flyering, tabling, etc)
• Writing website articles
• Database maintenance
• Providing general assistance to SSDP members across North America
• Administrative tasks (making copies, post office trips, etc.), not to exceed 35% of the intern's work
• Other projects that fall in line with the intern's skills or goals

Prior experience with political advocacy work is valued but not necessary. However, a passion for reforming harmful drug policies and a willingness to learn new skills are essential.
