Decriminalize Marijuana in Rhode Island
05/22/12 by Devon Tackels | Comments
Rhode Island's marijuana policies are fundamentally unfair and need to be reformed. A college student that's arrested for having a joint in Rhode Island faces a whole host of hardships: a criminal record, elimination of financial aid and sometimes jail. A bill that's been introduced in the Rhode Island General Assembly -- S2253/H7092 -- will fix this failed policy. Contact your legislators today and urge them to make sure this bill comes up for a vote.

EDITORS NOTE
When SSDP hired me last May to organize and grow our alumni network, we all agreed that we needed a vehicle to both highlight some of the best SSDP chapters’ efforts and inspire our supporters to continue their investment in positive change. We chose the name “Catalyst” because SSDP chapters are not only accelerating drug policy change both on their campuses and nationally, but also sharing creative ideas, passion, and expertise. We achieve synergy through our connections to each other. I hope the Catalyst becomes another thread that ties together our youth movement to end the War on Drugs.
