SCOTT CECIL ’11

Southwest Outreach Coordinator

Scott Cecil (’11) first became involved with SSDP when he co-founded the SSDP chapter at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the spring of 2011, at that time the only chapter of SSDP in the state of Arizona. He was subsequently involved in helping to form SSDP chapters at Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University and Mesa Community College. Scott has been heavily involved in local and state-wide drug policy reform efforts in Arizona, including lobbying for marijuana legalization/decriminalization and industrial hemp. He has also worked extensively to raise awareness about studying the efficacy of medicinal marijuana for treating U.S. combat veterans suffering from PTSD. He currently serves as the Outreach Coordinator for the Southeast and Southwest regions. Scott was born & raised in Omaha, Nebraska and spent much of his adult life in and around Phoenix, Arizona before relocating to Washington D.C. to work for SSDP.
