Scope
SSDPedia IS an encyclopedia about drugs, drug policy, drug policy reform, SSDP, and student advocacy.
SSDPedia IS also a place where SSDPers can collaborate on dynamic projects together. All project pages should be given the prefix "Project." An example of a collaborative project page is Project:SSDPedian of the Month.
SSDPedia IS NOT a place for articles about subjects unrelated to drugs, drug policy, drug policy reform, SSDP, or student advocacy. If an article does not relate to one of these subjects and it is not a collaborative project page, it will be deleted for lack of relevance.
SSDPedia IS NOT a place for insider gossip or turf battles. Users who use the wiki to engage in these activities will be banned with extreme prejudice. Check your ego at the door and keep it productive.
Style Guide
To keep SSDPedia content consistent, please refer to the following guidelines...
Objective Voice
SSDPedians should strive to write articles in the most objective language possible.
- Narrate in the third-person instead of first-person.
- INCORRECT: In 2000, we started an SSDP chapter to voice our support for the reform of local and national drug policies.
- CORRECT: In 2000, John Doe and Mary Jane started an SSDP chapter to voice their support for the reform of local and national drug policies.
- Don't just state your opinion. Back it up.
- INCORRECT: Random student drug testing is bullshit.
- CORRECT: Random student drug testing has been shown by studies to be ineffective and possibly counterproductive.
Categorization
All articles should be categorized. To list an article within a category, simply write [[Category:Example]] into the wikitext, replacing "Example" with a category from this list.
Naming Articles
Articles about general topics
Articles about topics that relate to drug policy don't need to be titled as such, since SSDPedia's scope is already that of drug policy. For example, an article on police corruption as it relates to drug policy should simply be entitled "Police corruption" rather than "Police corruption and drug policy."
The exception to this rule is if the article could either be about drug policy in general or SSDP in specific. For example, "history" could refer to the history of drug policy or the history of SSDP, so the former should be entitled "Drug policy history" and the latter be titled "SSDP's history."
Articles about SSDP
All articles about SSDP should contain "SSDP" in the article title. So, instead of "National staff," it should be "SSDP National Staff."
Articles about SSDP chapters
All chapter names should be in this format...
- CORRECT: Anytown University SSDP
- INCORRECT: AU SSDP
- INCORRECT: SSDP at Anytown University
- INCORRECT: Anytown University
- INCORRECT: Anytown University SSDP Chapter
