An inside look at SSDP’s strategy and goals

Have you ever wondered how Students for Sensible Drug Policy decides exactly what we’re going to do to end the War on Drugs?

Each year, SSDP convenes our annual Strategy Summit where our board, staff, and selected students and alumni come together to review our progress over the last year, set goals for the upcoming year, and discuss other high-level issues related to our work and the broader drug policy reform movement.

One of our core organizational values is transparency. In that spirit, this year we invited you to submit items for the Strategy Summit agenda, vote on the options, and now we are proud to share the results of the weekend.

Check out the 2019 SSDP Strategy Summit agenda and summaries.

There, you will find the topics we discussed along with summaries and actions we will take on each item. You’ll also be able to access all of the supporting documents that provide context. This is the first time we are sharing many of these previously internal documents, which include our budget, detailed notes on our progress toward objectives, new project overviews, and a whole lot more.

At the end of the weekend, we came to conclusions on our plan for the upcoming year. This plan is finalized as our 2019-2020 SSDP Organizational Objectives, which guide our work throughout the year and hold the staff and board accountable to SSDP’s 4,500+ members. We’re excited to share this year’s goals with you.

As you can see, we have a lot of big ideas for the coming year. We need the whole SSDP community standing with us if we’re going to make a serious dent in the drug war this year. Will you make a gift of $5, $20, or $100 right now to make our 2019-2020 goals a reality?
