The War on Drugs in the United States is racist by design, it has been waged to target communities of color, and so anti-racism is a critical part of our work to dismantle the War on Drugs. In order to help our members grapple with the complexities of race and racism, and have the framework necessary to do racial justice work, SSDP worked with a consultant to develop a toolkit to help our members engage in this work. The toolkit aims to have us thinking about race and its relation to social justice work, encourage personal reflection, and focus on the ways in which SSDP can be a more welcoming and supportive community. Note: The toolkit was designed in a US context for a US audience.
Now that the toolkit has been developed, we need help from our members to make it accessible to the network and to put it to practice.
