Our nation is confronting the latest spate of escalated violence in a centuries-long epidemic of police brutality against people of color. As #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd demonstrators turn out all over the world, the Drug Enforcement Administration is conducting warrantless surveillance and enforcement against any federal crime committed in association with those very demonstrations!

This special authorization from the Department of Justice grants broad power to the DEA, opening the gateway to violations of Fourth Amendment rights against search and seizure. That can easily result in First Amendment violations if law enforcement is harassing and jailing justice advocates over drug charges — including state-legal activities related to marijuana. Tell Congress: #DEAGoAway!

It creates unprecedented permission for information-sharing between law enforcement agencies and deploys advanced surveillance technologies which can be used to target protesters and interfere with their First Amendment rights to free speech and assembly.

It places the DEA, an agency with a well-documented history of violent enforcement actions and abuses of civilians, into escalated situations that have resulted in critical injuries and deaths of lawful protesters.

This is unacceptable. Click here to call on Congress to protect your rights!

DEA, GO AWAY!
