How did you hear about SSDP? 

I heard about SSDP when looking through the MAPS website.

Why did you want to get involved/what made you decide to start a chapter? 

I wanted to get involved because I know a lot of people are harmed by the drug policies currently in place. 

What has the reception been like on campus? From students, teachers, administration, etc. 

Currently, it has only been online due to the pandemic; however, the reception has been pretty good. We have had a couple of students join right away and haven’t had any push back so far.

What are some of the things you have planned or want to plan for next semester? 

Next semester I would like to write a new Good Samaritan policy and propose it to the school administration in order to get that changed.

What is the most challenging part of your experience starting/running the chapter so far? 

The most challenging part of running a chapter so far is planning events since everything is online.

What is the most rewarding part? 

The most rewarding part about being a part of a chapter is knowing that I’m doing something about the injustice. I have been a proponent for sensible drug policies for years, but actually committing actions to help change it is really rewarding.

What are you most excited about for your chapter/school/state/region right now?

I am really excited for the Good Samaritan policy proposal and going back in person to school. I feel once we go back in person certain aspects of running a chapter will be easier. 

What is your vision for your SSDP? Where do you see your chapter in a year? in 4 or 5 years?

I hope that this chapter will be respected and have an influence in the school and the surrounding community in the next four to five years. I also hope to find new members to take over my place running the chapter for when I graduate.
