Tax and Regulate Marijuana in Connecticut

Connecticut: Tax and Regulate Marijuana in Connecticut

Two bills have been proposed in the Connecticut legislature that would legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana for recreational use. House Bills 6703 (introduced by Representative Candelaria of the 95th district) and 6473 (introduced by Representative Vargas of the 6th district) would both allow people aged 21 and older to legally possess cannabis and require the state to regulate the growth, sale, and possession of the substance. As of February 24th, 2015, the bills have been referred to the Judiciary Committee and are waiting to be scheduled for public hearing or a vote. UConn Students for Sensible Drug Policy has created a toolkit for Connecticut citizens to get involved in ending marijuana prohibition in their state.
