SSDP Executive Director Kat Murti Gives Keynote at New Approaches Summit 2026

Kat Murti, Executive Director, Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) gave the keynote address at the 5th Annual New Approaches Summit on Friday, September 25, 2026 at the Harvard Club of New York City.

Murti’s talk titled, “Depolarizing Harm Reduction: Human Autonomy vs. Prohibitionist Ideology” discussed what happens when public health discourse becomes increasingly polarized and what that means for nicotine regulation. She addresses how moral panic and ideological tribalism derail effective policy, often replacing evidence-based policy with prohibitionist dogma. Drawing on human-centric advocacy, she outlines a pragmatic path to dismantle polarization, bridge fragmented movements, and champion individual choice in tobacco control.
