HHS Approves Extension of 7-OH Comment Period
On August 26, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced they would be reopening and extending the public comment period on the proposed threshold for 7-OH scheduling.
The public originally had until July 31 to submit comments — less than 30 days since the notice was published on July 6. Now the public comment period has been extended until September 10.
131 comments have already been posted to the federal register since reopening. Tens of thousands of people have stepped forward to oppose 7-OH criminalization. This extension shows that our voices make a difference. With just 15 days left to submit a comment, Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) urges the public to speak out using its federal comment tool as the government moves to criminalize 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) above a proposed threshold.
