SSDP Files Request for Extension of 7-OH Comment Period
With the July 31 deadline rapidly approaching, Students for Sensible Drug Policy is urging the DEA to extend the public comment period on its proposed emergency scheduling of 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH).
Although this proposal could have far-reaching consequences for scientific research, public health, and individual liberty, the public has been given less than 30 days to respond — the notice was not published until the end of the day on July 6.
Even within that compressed timeframe, the response has been extraordinary: 24,293 comments have been submitted, 8,702 have already been posted to the public docket, and 3,853 of those comments came directly through SSDP’s advocacy network.
If you haven’t yet made your voice heard, there’s still time — but not much. Submit your comment before July 31 and help ensure the DEA hears from everyone who will be affected by this decision.
