Kratom, 7 OH, and Emerging Products: A Science Based Safety Primer
In a collaborative webinar between Students For Sensible Drug Policy & 7-HOPE Alliance, we explore kratom, 7-OH, and other emerging products. Featuring addiction neuroscientist Dr. Michele Ross and moderated by SSDP’s Finnegan McGuinness, this session breaks down what we know—and don’t know—about safety, drug interactions, and key warning signs.
Whether you’re a student, advocate, or simply curious, this primer will equip you with evidence-based insights to navigate a rapidly evolving landscape.
Dr. Ross is an addiction scientist, neuropharmacologist, and author of five books including Kratom Is Medicine. She is widely regarded as a leading researcher on kratom and its public health implications, and recently completed a study of 1500 7-OH consumers. She also has lived experience as a kratom user for over a decade due to multiple chronic pain conditions. Dr. Ross regularly advises consumers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers on kratom and 7-OH, and serves as a Scientific Advisor to the 7-HOPE Alliance.
