Gina Giorgio began her journey with Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) in January 2020, joining the Wake Forest School of Medicine SSDP Chapter. Shortly thereafter, she joined the second cohort of SSDP’s Psychedelic Pipeline and began interning for the program. Currently, Gina serves as the Director of Strategy and Development at SSDP.

During her time at SSDP, Gina founded the North Carolina Psychedelic Policy Coalition, a group of professionals dedicated to supporting the expanded accessibility of psychedelic medicines through policy reform, therapy, and research. She also serves on the board of the Southeast Coalition of Psychedelic Practitioners and Sacred Roots.

In addition to her roles in psychedelic policy, Gina is a 2023 North Carolina New Leaders Council Fellow and a recipient of the 2023 Nottingham Pro Humanitate Award for her involvement in community-engaged service. She completed her Master’s in Communications at Wake Forest University and her Bachelor’s in Psychology from High Point University.

Through her work in drug policy and advocacy, Gina seeks to end the War on Drugs through policies rooted in compassion and fact-based drug education.
