Merryn Spence ’17

Elected Director

Overview

Merryn is a harm reduction consultant and integration specialist dedicated to supporting individuals navigating the integration and disintegration of altered states of consciousness. She believes that exploring consciousness in curious, imaginative, and embodied ways is a fundamental birthright.

As an activist, Merryn works to expand accessibility in integrative mental health and public health for people who use drugs. As an educator, she empowers individuals to uncover the medicine within themselves through practical, inclusive, and trauma-responsive approaches.

With over 15 years of grassroots organizing experience, Merryn has worked in nonprofit support, suicide prevention, and advocacy campaigns. She is committed to advancing bipartisan psychedelic legislation in Pennsylvania, particularly initiatives benefiting veterans, as a vital step toward broader drug policy reform. Merryn’s work is deeply influenced by years spent learning from Indigenous teachers and elders—an experience she describes as the privilege of her life. She remains dedicated to honoring and preserving their teachings through reciprocity.

Professionally, Merryn runs Entheogration, co-leads Three Rivers Psychedelic Society, volunteers for Fireside Project, teaches yoga, and works in end-of-life care. She holds a B.S. in Global Health Studies, Community & Justice Studies, and Spanish and is pursuing an MSc in Psychedelics: Mind, Medicine, and Culture at the University of Exeter.
