Join SSDP’s First Harm Reduction Committee Meeting!

At Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), we believe that real change begins with education, community, and collaboration. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to the very first meeting of our Harm Reduction Committee! Please complete the Interest Form to get involved.

📅 Date: Thursday, July 31st
🕒 Time: 4:00 – 5:00 pm EDT

This meeting is an open space for anyone passionate about harm reduction—whether you’re already doing local work or just beginning to learn about what it means. We’ll start by sharing what SSDP is doing nationally in the harm reduction space, then we’ll open the floor to hear from you: the advocates, organizers, and students doing the work in your communities.

SSDP members and students are doing incredible work in the Harm Reduction space including:

  • Education via the Drug Education Committee and “Just Say Know” program
  • HOPE (Harm reduction & Overdose Prevention Education) – Our easy self-paced & app-based training on overdose prevention, naloxone administration, and fentanyl test strips. After completing this training, you can request our harm reduction kits for free!
  • Festival Harm Reduction: We are getting started on offering harm reduction support at concerts and music festivals, where we can also distribute harm reduction supplies.
  • Overdose Prevention & Response Trainings at large scale events including National Cannabis Festival and Psychedelic Science.

We’ll also explore what this committee can look like moving forward:

  • What gaps do we want to fill?
  • How can SSDP support harm reduction efforts on and off campus?
  • What kind of tools, resources, or campaigns would be most impactful?
  • What kind of harm reduction efforts are you working on locally or would you like to see?

Whether you’re experienced or just curious about how to get involved, your voice matters—and we’d love for you to be a part of shaping this space with us.

Together, we can build a smarter, more compassionate approach to drug policy.

Let’s reduce harm and amplify impact—see you there!
