Fordham SSDP to Host Speaker Event with Drug Policy Advocate Corinne Carey

New York, NY – March 24, 2025 – Students for Sensible Drug Policy is excited to announce that the Fordham University chapter will host a speaker event this Friday featuring Corinne Carey, a leading New York advocate for drug policy reform, harm reduction, and end-of-life care legislation.

This event offers New York-based SSDPers a unique opportunity to learn from one of the state’s most effective advocates. Corinne will share her expertise on:

  • Lessons from her campaigns in drug policy reform
  • Transforming advocacy into legislative success at the state level
  • Building coalitions among nonprofits, organizations, and lawmakers

Corinne has been instrumental in shaping New York’s public health policies, currently leading efforts to pass the Medical Aid in Dying Act in New York after successfully passing similar legislation in New Jersey. A longtime advocate for drug policy reform, she founded the Harm Reduction Law Project at the Urban Justice Center and spent over a decade with the Harm Reduction Coalition developing legal protections for marginalized communities. She is also a founding member of New Yorkers for Mental Health Alternatives, advocating for legal access to psychedelics for mental health. She will share insights on turning advocacy into legislative victories, drawing from her extensive experience advancing policy changes in New York and beyond.
