SSDP is a founding member of the Cannabis Unity Coalition, which is the largest ever bipartisan coalition of cannabis justice advocates all of whom will be represented in Washington, D.C. for Cannabis Unity Week from April 28th to May 1st.
We will be meeting with our Representatives and Senators on Capitol Hill to urge them to support upcoming cannabis bills that are a step toward equity, economic vitality, and common sense policy.
This is our biggest week yet! SSDPers from across the country will be uniting to make their voices heard and show how change is made from the ground up. There are so many ways to get involved and we hope you can join us for a groundbreaking and action packed week.
Monday, April 28th: Join SSDP along with hundreds of advocates, patients and business owners to hear lead sponsors of frontline legislation lay out their visions for working to accomplish cannabis policy reform at the National Cannabis Policy Summit from 10AM-4PM at the MLK Library. SSDP will be speaking and tabling. Register for free here.
Tuesday, April 29th: Cannabis Unity Week Press Conference will feature members of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus and Cannabis Unity Coalition. In-person at the Press Triangle or streamed online to SSDP’s social media at 11AM ET.
Wednesday, April 30th: Cannabis Unity Coalition Lobby Day where SSDP will deliver materials to every single office of Congress and ask for support for cannabis descheduling and retroactive justice.
Thursday, May 1: The Great American Cannabis Freedom Rally from 4PM-9PM in front of the White House at Lafayette Square advocating for those still behind bars.
We need your help now more than ever! Whether you’re able to attend in person or not, use our simple SSDP Action Alert Form to tell your legislators that cannabis policy reform is a priority.
Even though cannabis is legal in 24 states, there are still thousands of people sitting in federal prison for non-violent cannabis charges. Your support directly impacts SSDP’s work on full cannabis legalization and uniting families who have lost their loved ones to the criminal justice system. Consider making a donation today!
