What We’re Doing:

By joining the SSDP Drug Education Committee, you’ll get the opportunity to support the following initiatives, and more!

  1. Modernizing the Just Say Know Peer Education Program: In addition to updating our evidence-based, peer drug education curriculum, we’re excited to transform our text-based training manual into a more accessible and interactive digital format, which will be integrated into a new certificate program.
  2. Creating a Campus Harm Reduction Training Program: We’re instituting a streamlined training that empowers SSDP chapters to improve the effective distribution and use of naloxone and fentanyl test strips included in our harm reduction kits, ultimately promoting safety— and saving lives— in their communities.
  3. Expanding the Listen To Young People Report’s Reach: We’re working to circumvent and amend restrictive federal policies to promote drug safety initiatives on college campuses in the USA, including collaborating with the DOE.

Why Join the Committee?

By joining this committee, you’ll have a direct, compounding impact on youth drug education and safety across the nation. Your work will reach thousands of students, equipping them with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions, support their peers’ safety and learning, and advocate for policy changes.

Whether you are seasoned professional, a passionate student, or someone with lived experience, we welcome all committed volunteers eager to make a difference to support these initiatives. Here is a sampling of some of the committee’s key roles and responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Research and develop evidence-based training modules that will be the foundation of our programs.
  • Content Creation: Turn information into dynamic, accessible digital content, including videos, quizzes, infographics, and more.
  • Subject Matter Experts (SME): Ensure our content is accurate and up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field, and/or participate as a featured educator in our training videos.
  • Fundraising Management and Grant Writing: Help secure the funding needed to bring these projects to life and sustain them for years to come.
  • Marketing and Outreach: Deliver our message to the SSDP network and beyond, ensuring as many students and campuses get the opportunity to participate in our programs and access our materials as possible.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate essential, ongoing contact with various branches of the SSDP network to answer questions, receive feedback, rally participation, and deepen community.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Monitor the programs’ execution and efficacy, suggesting changes to improve our programs’ progress, impact, and reach.

Get Involved: We plan to start the week of September 16th. If you’re interested in taking part, please fill out our Interest Form ASAP to let us know your availability and how you might like to contribute.
